Agogo Ladies Training College, Cycling out of Poverty, Ghana

by Merlin Matthews last modified 2008-02-02 15:14

Statuesque Madame Gertrude Mansah is the principle of the Agogo Ladies Training College and runs the Cycling out of Poverty scheme to provide women with bicycles so they can transport food from town to their villages, and bring farm produce to market to sell. Currently 38 local women are receiving bicycle maintenance training before buying a Royal Mail bicycle at a reduced rate. Madame Gertrude said “I would really like to thank Royal Mail for helping me make such a difference: these bicycles really do help people help themselves.”
