In the UK Re~Cycle works with volunteers from the public, Youth Offending Teams and prisons
Re~Cycle volunteers carefully pack the bikes in to maximise the number of bikes in the container. Pretty hot work if the sun's out, a 40-foot solar cooker! The person facing away from the camera is Derek, who was a volunteer at the time and who now runs Re~Cycle's Essex operations!
Volunteers take a well earned break for a quick snack. Pallets are used to make steps up to the container.
Volunteers take off the pedals and turn the handlebars, to make the bikes thinner so more can go in the container (and to stop them getting tangled up...).
